The Silence of the Lambs

These movies are not a list of her top 10 favorites, but 10 movies she felt were great reflections of the books they were based on. For instance, they might have translated the feel of the novel or stayed very close to the authors vision.

Feel free to share your favorites.

(in no particular order)

1. Silence of the Lambs (almost verbatim)

2. Stand By Me

3. Lord of the Rings (all three)

4. The Color Purple

5. Rebecca

6. The Shawshank Redemption

7. The Outsiders

8. To Kill a Mockingbird

9. Misery

10. Carrie

Good list. Funny that almost half are Stephen King stories. I’d probably include Pet Sematary too. Fight Club, as well, even though they did change the ending.

When I compiled this list there were so many great movies adapted from novels (Fight Club is one of my favorites, but sadly I didn’t read the book) but I only wanted to list ones that I had read and that were really outstanding adaptations. I think I might make a second list, because there are many that I left off. My writing partner Danae is also going to post her list soon. (Maybe I will theme my next one)
