In my house Halloween is a BIG deal. The no-gifts holiday allows me to release my inner-ghoul and I reserve my right to begin the festivities at least a month in advance. The revelries include watching countless horror movies (my favorite, slasher films – circa 1970-89 because I am not into torture), reading dark tales under dim ambient lighting, decorating my house like a dungeon (No BDSM references – remove head from gutter please 😉 ) and binging on gummy delicacies till my distended stomach threatens the button on my pants. So, as a way to bring in the impending fall season (and celebrate the near end of this insufferable heat) I am paying homage to some of my favorite horror movies that are also literary greats and not-so-greats.

Enjoy! Oh and none of the below titles will include sparkly vampires…sorry Twi-hards.
