I am a HUGE film fan- it is probably only second to my love for books. I definitely got it from my dad. We used to go watch movies together all the time as I was growing up. Even now, we try to make it to the theatre at least 2x a month. When I met my husband, he asked me what I liked to do for fun. I answered, “I like to read and watch movies.” I was so self-conscious at the time because I felt like that answer made me sound boring. The more I think about it though, the two really do go together.
So, of course, I love it when movie studios decide to pick up a novel and make it into a film (though I often complain that the casting isn’t quite right… but I digress). Some movies made this year based on novels are: The Lorax, What to Expect when You’re Expecting, The Hunger Games, One for the Money, The Woman in Black, Big Miracle, John Carter, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and The Lucky One. I’m sure there are more but I can’t quite remember them off the top of my head this morning.
Which brings me to the exciting movies to look forward to. Coming up between now and the end of the year:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Actors: Emma Watson and Paul Rudd
Sorry… I have to do it…. Breaking Dawn pt. 2 by Stephanie Meyer. Actors: Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Les Miserables By Victor Hugo. Actors: Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter
Life of Pi By Yann Martel. Actors: Tobey McGuire
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey By: Tolkien. Actors: Luke Evans, Elijah Wood
Great Gatsby By: Fitzgerald Actors: Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan
Anna Karenina By: Tolstoy Actors: Keira Knightly, Jude Law
You’d better bet there will be reviews of all of these movies on this blog when they come out!
