32216-Screen-shot-2013-01-23-at-9.42.29-PMFor those of you who don’t know, both Sara and myself are huge fans of Divergent by Veronica Roth, so we are very excited about the upcoming movie adaptation!

So far, the only confirmed cast member is Shailene Woodley (The Descedents) for the lead role of Tris. Her counterpart, ‘Four,’ has not yet been cast, but they have been auditioning guys and there are a couple Shailene likes for the part, according to a recent interview.

Here’s what she had to say about casting Four: “This character needs to be extremely masculine, and his eyes need to scream vulnerability and sensitivity.”

A tall order? Yeah, pretty much, but I’m confident they’ll find their guy!

Watch the rest of her interview here:

If you don’t exactly know who Shailene Woodley is, you probably recognize her face from the TV show The Secret Life of the American Teenager or the Clooney film, The Descendants.

She was not quite the fan-pick that was going around online, but I feel pretty good about her being Tris.  (So do I! I love her. – Sara)

Trust me guys, it’s okay that she’s not a natural blonde!

I can’t wait to see who they cast as Four!

What do you think? Can you picture Ms. Woodley as Tris? ENTER THE FORUM HERE TO DISCUSS.

***UPDATE*** The role of Max will be played by David Bastian.

Wow! I watched the trailer, and I remember thinking Woodley was terrific in The Descendants. Now I want to read the book before the movie comes out. That way, I’ll know what I’m talking about when I complain about how it didn’t live up to my expectations. Seriously, though, I’m picking up the book. If the director is good, I’m sure the movie will be great :)

Divergent is one of my favorite books. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve been looking for a good book — this sounds like it could be it. Thanks for the tip and review 😉

It’s a young adult novel, but it’s smart, gritty and violent. Perfect really. I might have it to loan if you have a kindle.

Thanks, Sara. My wife and daughters have Kindles, but I am Kindle-less — and trying to get my hands on theirs would be like the old NRA slogan “… will have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers.” 😉

If you have a smart phone or a laptop, you can have Kindle, the free app. Works just the same, except I don’t know anything about loaning books. :)

Alas, my phone doesn’t even have its GED. However, I’m hoping to get my own Kindle next month. In the meantime, it’s off to the library for me :)
