THE GIST: Thief is the third book in the Love Me With Lies Series, one that has been high on my TBR list. It totally did not disappoint. This was a one sitting on the edge of my seat, and couldn’t read fast enough, book. The characters and plot are perfectly interwoven, making this a wonderfully complex story.
[note color=”#d3d1ff”]SYNOPSIS: Note to Self
Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn’t boast or brag.
There’s no arrogance in love;
it’s never rude, crude, or indecent-it’s not self absorbed.
Love isn’t easily upset.
Love doesn’t tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I’ll fight for her.
Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.
THE LOWDOWN: Holy-effin-crap! I suffered such a book hangover from this one, I cried in my bed for two straight hours. Thief doesn’t rip you heart out, it steals it piece by piece. It hurt so much that I stopped, laid my head down on my desk and cried… I didn’t think I could take much more tortuous sadness. Caleb and Olivia are soul mates, and they’ve been through 10 years of ups and downs. Caleb finally realizes who/what he wants, and knows not to give up. It’s not all tissues and ice cream depressing, there are some great moments you get to relive with Caleb through flashbacks to the past, the basketball shot, and the camping trip. I think this draws out some of the suspense of the book because as soon as something important happens, flashback!
I love the story told in Caleb’s POV! There’s so much drama going on in Thief, though I thought we had enough of that reading with Dirty Red. The story, as a whole, comes full circle, and though it’s not truly a HEA, it is one you can live with! I did love the part when someone went bat-shit-crazy and got to “Smack a Hoe!”
Overall, this is a truly amazing series that will take you on one hell of a messed up ride. I think the series is brilliant. Fisher is an amazing writer! This is one of the biggest MindF**k relationships ever, but Fisher makes you want an effed up love just like theirs!
