OVERALL THOUGHTS: Surprise! That is exactly how I felt. I was slack-jaw surprised by the twists and turns that K.D Grace pulled off. I have to admit, there were a few parts that made my cheeks a bit red. It definitely has that “wow …ok then” factor. The Initiation of Ms. Holly expands on the popular underground sex club idea, prevalent in the erotic genre, in ways that many writers wouldn’t dare go. The balance between the sex and the plot was more difficult to define in this book because the sex was the plot, but only until it wasn’t. This was done with smooth transitions and in such a way that it added to the story rather than detract. Super secret clubs always have a history and The Mount is no exception. That history slowly transformed into the part to pay attention to, which included a truly surprising twist. I had to give this book 4 out of 5 just for the sheer ingenuity of it
SYNOPSIS: Sex with a mysterious stranger aboard a train leads Rita Holly to an initiation into the exclusive and secretive Mount club. Sophisticated and erotic rituals await Rita, as do the endless intrigues and power struggles within the organization. Rita learns that club membership is not for the sexually repressed. During her initiation, sex with her lover from the train, Edward, is forbidden, but Alex and Leo are happy to step in. With more and more titillating punishments in store and the club’s leader intent on her failing, will Rita pass her lengthy and lusty initiation?
THE LOWDOWN: This story starts with a *BANG in the Erotic department: two strangers, a chance meeting, and a fast but exceptional sexual encounter in a public place that set a sensual stage for the entire novel. The main character, Ms. Holly has a mysterious past that readers don’t get much of until late in the story but it totally worked. Author K.D. Grace made the most of intrigue by masking her male lead (Edward) and combining that with Ms. Holly’s past to amp up everything that happened inside, outside and because of The Mount.
The Initiation of Ms. Holly had more than just the two distinct characters though. Grace, created a villainous female that embodied beauty, sexuality and out right bitchiness. She is a character you’ll love to hate. Her scenes were often painful to read and yet, you’ll miss her when she’s gone. The cast of hot men is full as well and Alex and Leo each have a distinct personalities and appetites, of which readers get to sample alongside Ms. Holly.
Though the beginning was hot and the middle was hotter and mysterious, the end put this book far into the “4” category. Bringing together sex, a mysterious past, a power struggle, and a fantastic display of how incredibly disgraceful people can be when jealously abounds and a major twist that rendered her most distinct characters basically helpless. K.D. Grace left this reviewer with a sense that justice does prevail. Here’s the thing though, the author wrote a good book but it’s not a read for those who are shy or faint-hearted. There are some intense sexual situations that I have rarely (if ever) come across. So the gist of it is this, if you’re into intense erotic fiction, especially fiction that pushes all kinds of limits then definitely check this out when it releases.
